The Massachusetts Association of School Business Officials (MASBO) has presented a 2025 Friend of MASBO Award to David Flynn, Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations for the New Bedford Public Schools. He was honored at the association’s recent Annual Institute in Falmouth.
The award recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to facilitating the work of school business officials in their communities, and/or who have consistently provided significant assistance to MASBO. The award is sponsored this year by U.S. Omni and TSACG Compliance Services.
Mr. Flynn has worked in the field of school finance and operations for more than 25 years. He served for more than two decades as Business Administrator for the North Attleborough Public Schools. In 2021, he became Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations in the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District. He has served in his current position since February 2025.
Margaret Driscoll, Executive Director of MASBO, described Mr. Flynn as a “long-time, steady, and contributory finance and operations leader.”
Ms. Driscoll added, “Soft-spoken but always thinking, David is the epitome of a great school business administrator: willing to talk through problems and navigate solutions.”
Mr. Flynn is also a member of the Steering Committee for the Cape Cod Municipal Health Group, the first and largest municipal joint purchase group in the Commonwealth.
Mr. Flynn earned both a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration from Bryant University.
