The Massachusetts Association of School Business Officials (MASBO) has presented a 2026 Friend of MASBO Award to Kristin Flynn, Director of Finance for the Wareham Public Schools. She was honored at the association’s recent 60th Annual Institute in Falmouth.

The award recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to facilitating the work of school business officials in their communities, and/or who have consistently provided significant assistance to MASBO. The award is sponsored by U.S. Omni and TSACG Compliance Services.

Ms. Flynn has served in her current role for the past four years. She previously worked for 16 years for the Acushnet Public Schools.

Patrick Murphy, Business Manager for the Cape Cod Collaborative and a MASBO Board Member, nominated Ms. Flynn for the award. He commended Ms. Flynn’s willingness to collaborate and support her colleagues, particularly those on Cape Cod and the South Coast, and described her as a “curious and creative problem-solver.”

Mr. Murphy said, “Kristin has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to fiscal stewardship in support of student success. She has spent her career working with communities and school districts that have been especially challenged with adequate funding. Most recently, she has guided the Wareham Public Schools through complex financial challenges with transparency, integrity, and strategic foresight. Her ability to align financial practices with educational priorities has strengthened the district’s capacity to serve its students and community effectively.”

Ms. Flynn, a resident of Acushnet, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Accounting from the College of the Holy Cross and a Master of Business Administration from Bryant University.
